    Give Consciously This Holiday Season

    Give Consciously This Holiday Season

The holiday season is for celebrating, making memories and giving thoughtful gifts to the people in our lives who mean the most. It is also traditionally an incredibly wasteful time of year, but it doesn’t have to be. There are many ways to give gifts that have minimal impact on the environment, and these are our top tips.

    Give Consciously This Holiday Season

It’s important to question the longevity and quality of the gift, and it’s also important to ask where what you are about to purchase has come from.

Think long term when choosing gifts

A huge amount of gifts given every Christmas either end up in the back of peoples wardrobe, never to see the light of day or in landfill. Rather than choosing cheap ‘stocking filler’ gifts that don’t serve a purpose, think creatively and thoughtfully about how you can give a gift that will stand the test of time and be genuinely useful to it’s recipient.

There are also many useful and eco-friendly gifts that are ethically and locally made that promote clean living such as reusable coffee cups, straws and shopping bags, or Sensori+ air mists for detoxifying and refreshing the home or work environment.

For the people who have everything, you could consider making a donation or sponsoring something, or someone on their behalf, or treating them to an experience like a night away or tickets to a show.

    Shop consciously

There are a few things to consider when it comes to conscious shopping. It’s important to question the longevity and quality of the gift, and it’s also important to ask where what you are about to purchase has come from. Buying locally reduces emissions as a result of decreased road and air freight. It’s also great to support local, Australian owned businesses.

Remember that reusable bags aren’t just for groceries. Take them with you while you’re doing your gift shopping and save the plastic and paper bag waste.

    Consider your wrapping choices

Wrapping paper is one of the biggest sources of waste each Christmas. Luckily there are lots of alternatives out there for wrapping your gifts. You could use baskets or gift boxes, reusable shopping bags or pillowcases. It’s important to consider how your gift’s recipient could reuse your wrapping rather than ending up in landfill.

If you do choose to wrap your gifts in wrapping paper, get creative and reuse old newspaper tied up with twine or string and decorated with some greenery such as rosemary or gum leaves, dried orange slices or cinnamon sticks. If you’re a stickler for wrapping your gifts in wrapping paper, opt for an eco-friendly recycled paper.

Choose gifts that work for your loved one, and the environment

Sensori+ Home fragrance are not only a beautiful gift, but help to restore our the air we breathe into it’s purest state. It helps fight air pollution and rid the atmosphere of toxins, whilst bringing a sense of well-being and calm to it’s user. Choosing gifts that are environmentally friendly doesn’t mean you have to compromise on luxury or quality.
